Christmas Thread
http://www.soon.org.uk/christmas.htm
I have never really done a search on how Christmas began. I do know that many people celebrate Christmas because it was the day many people believed Jesus was born. I found this link with a lot of information about how Christmas began and the meaning of it. What is in the link does not necessarily mean that it is written in Gold it is one link of many out there so please take what you want from it or take nothing at all.
If you have anything you would like to share about christmas this is the place
Many Blessings

Re: Christmas Thread
I just would like to share
the simple fact that some folks want Christmas
banned....why?
are they sick of the hustle and bustle
occuring at the shops..?
Just my point
why ban Christmas
when it represents a loving attitude
toward each other...Jesus' teachings
what could be banned is the ads and pushing
of items that have become the main reason
known to the folks-at-large as Christmas
but that really isn't the real, true Christmas
is it!
Santa get in the trunk! Or else get your own Holiday
just don't steal Jesus' birthday ever again!
Santa is the material guy (the one in the red suite, yes!)
and Jesus is divine...
there is a big difference.
they both shouldn't be referenced as Christmas
just Jesus's b-day and the other
can be the Santa Clues Game
[guess what's in the box and the next one and next one..etc]
...LOL...
( it's corny, I know, and those of you who know me ... I've used it before....LOL)

Re: Christmas Thread
I agree the materialism is of christmas is just a little out of control. It used to be so simple but now with television and toy comericials many parents that cannot afford to buy presents for their children feel very bad that they cannot give their children what other children are getting. Why not just give one present a year to our children instead of bunches. Best present we could give our children is Love, what better present than that. d-knots i really like your post and the added materiasm that blinds many people during christmas and only because of all the advertising. It would be great if they would cut some if not all the ads that have turned christmas into something other than jesus birth. This topic has got under my skin for many years now, we all need to find the true meaning of christmas and to teach it to our children.
Jesus is why we even have christmas, it is a day just for him, so we can remember him and what he gave to all of us.
Many Blessings
