Exercising for health Empty Exercising for health

Post by Spirit-Being March 24th 2012, 4:00 pm

I just recently began exercising doing about 20 - 40 pushups a day, it's helped me get out of a lazy mindset physically. I was Inspired by Wind-Dancer's son skyler who is 13 and i am grateful. I will post something else about how exercise can bring much balance in life if anyone has anything to share about keeping a healthy body through exercise i would love to hear about it.

I know I should exercise more.
When son plays Scooter on DVD, I cant help but move to the music.
I cant call it dancing lol, but moving is good enough for me.
So, I say dance, any rhythmic movement is exercise Smile

Spirit-being do you still have your dog? Walking a dog I find is one of the most rewarding, enjoyable and free exercises available.

Apologies for forgetting Bella's name.
As you know, I have three dogs, and I too have my lazy days. But without them, I might not get the exercise I so desperately need. Maybe if I get my motivation back to go swimming again, as that too I enjoy.

I would love a dog, he/she would be such a faithful companion and I would have someone to love me unconditionally.
Not forgetting the exercise!

One of my friends wants to go swimming and I said I would go with her ..... *help* ..... me and my big mouth!
She is like a fish, I am like a stone Sad

And now the warmer weather is here, friend and I will be off walking the woods and fields.

The last two walks I did really showed me I am unfit!

So, shall we call this thread

Strange but I prefer open ( spacious ) countryside to enclosed woods.
Although that does come across as hypocritical as I also love trees.

I too like open countryside.
Bodmin Moor is one of my favourite places.
Any moor or field where one can see for miles.
Avebury stone circle has hills, or inclines to climb on and just sit.
I got lots of pics of the views.
Cant wait to go back again Smile

No worries Vanilla we like what we like, and the countryside is quite Beautiful and Free. We don't have much here in connecticut which i would love to see more of. You are both blessed to be able to experience the wide openness of the land. Sounds truly beautiful Mia.

Wouldn't it be nice to sit in a field of flowers, have a pic-nic or just watch the butterflies, dragonflies, and the wildlife dance their beautiful song of life. Enjoy what you like with all that you are. Dreaming

Well, if you don't use it you loose it. At least based on my experience. My challenge at this point in time is how to resurrect an old body. Exercise, boy is that going to hurt in the morning.

Awesome topic Spirit-Being!

Exercising for health Empty Re: Exercising for health

Post by ATouchofHeart February 21st 2013, 12:20 am

Something that I need to do a whole lot more of.
I sit at a computer 8 hrs a day, I move around as much as possible.

A couple week ago at our company's safety committee meeting I'm on, they brought in a company that teaches every person at a computer exercises. I grabbed a flyer on it.

If I remember, I'll scan it and post it here. Moving all the joints so you don't get stiff or get nerve damage.

That company even has a program for only $25 per employee for a company that also provides easy yoga morning classes at work, those exercises taught, and a nutritional plan. I hope they hire them but it is up to our Tribal Council to approve it. They were just showing. But I was convinced.

Our food at work could use a face lift. Seems like we have all the same stuff week after week. They are not nutritionists by any means.

I was talking to "G" a gal who was there when I worked there back in 96/97'. She's a supervisor in one of the fast restaurants inside.

She told me they are going to provide us healthier food in our lunch room. I asked what it was......one was a frozen drink and smoothies.

I asked her if they provided her with a nutritional chart. She dug a bit through her desk and pulled out a nutritional flyer.

Orange/Pomegranate Atomic Energy drink ingredient ist -
INGREDIENTS: Water, High Fructrose Corn Syrup, Propylene Glycol, Ciotric Acid, Malic Acid, Energy blend (things I can't pronounce) FD&C Yellow No 6 and Red No. 40.

High-fructose corn syrup is a man made sweetener that’s found in a
wide range of processed foods, from ketchup and cereals to crackers and
salad dressings. After being introduced into the food supply 30-odd years ago, obesity rates skyrocketed.

Yet because of its proven ability to cause a serious type of blood
disease — Heinz body anemia — propylene glycol has been banned by the FDA for use in cat food. (dogfoodadvisor dot com)

In personal care products (Info from a hair care company)

  • It is a very effective humectant
  • It is a solvent or carrier agent for fragrances and preservatives.
  • It can be used as an emulsifier or co-surfactant.
  • It is used as a solvent for pigments in cosmetics.
  • It can be used as a preservative due to its anti-fungal and anti-microbial properties.
  • It is frequently used in deodorants and antiperspirants.
  • It is found in hand cleansers and disinfecting gels.
  • It is a common additive in shaving creams and gels.
Dow company - used in paint and coatings, polyester resins, hydraulic and brake
fluid, coolants and antifreeze.(they have a mother with the product on a tablespoon ready to give it to a child in his mouth) They say it is safe!!!

Solvent and extractant for a wide range of active ingredients, such as corticosteroids, phenol derivatives, barbiturates, vitamins A and D, most alkaloids and many local anesthetics.

not to mention what High Fructrose Corn Syrup does to a person.
Both drinks on the flyer have Propylene Glycol in them.

Tell us about yourself : I’m a widow; I lost my spouse April 16, 1999 to a broken heart and Cancer. He was a Native American. I have lived on his Reservation in California for 37 years. We were married 23 years. We had two children, lost one to a drunk driver in 97 before my spouse died. I started my spiritual journey when son passed; but woke up to spirituality abruptly June 2009 when I had an event reading by James Van Praagh and he brought through eight deceased relatives. I would love to be a medium in the future, and share that spiritual connection with those who have lost. I take photos of spirits in clouds. One of my favorite spirit photographs at night is an apparition of a Native American Male.
